Function:

I am a visual artist and woodworker creating functional and character filled furniture and accessories using the many techniques I have accumulated over the years. I received my BFA in 1998 and have since done fine art, finish carpentry, cabinet installation, and faux finishing. I have been doing original furniture design and custom woodwork since 2010.
My goal and purpose is to combine these elements and skills to make functional beautiful furniture that is inviting as well as aesthetically pleasing.

Charred wood shelving experiment.

The lighting of the torch!
Working on this shelving project for Lisa's gallery space, while we were perusing wood for using at Rebuild it Center, some pieces of burnt wood caught our eye. Lisa became enamoured of the charred look and so we set about making it happen in a controlled (sort of) setting.

The pieces are fused together with some dowel rods and the notches are all cut.

Trying to work across the surface evenly here to get a fairly uniform crisping.

The final product, sprayed the thing with a can of Deft and left.
