Function:

I am a visual artist and woodworker creating functional and character filled furniture and accessories using the many techniques I have accumulated over the years. I received my BFA in 1998 and have since done fine art, finish carpentry, cabinet installation, and faux finishing. I have been doing original furniture design and custom woodwork since 2010.
My goal and purpose is to combine these elements and skills to make functional beautiful furniture that is inviting as well as aesthetically pleasing.

Distressing an aged hemlock slab.

I picked these boards up off of a craigslist mission, joined them together a few days ago. The glue is dry, time to beat the hell out of it!

Just using whatever random found hardware in my shop, I lay it on there, hit it, move it, repeat.

The cat's paw works well on it's own.

Old nails and a mallet.

Action!

Then I hand planed it, this brings out the light colors in the grain, but where I hit it, it stays grey.

Trimmed it out with some newer doug fir, the legging is all prepared, I just have to assemble it tomorrow.
