Handmade Dovetail Benches

   I have been building this design for about 7 years in a variety of wood types. It is a nice craftsman style detail, but it also provides an extremely sturdy joint. The joints are mostly cut by hand using the japan pull saw and a mallet and chisel. I would guess I have built 40-50 of these, I've got my technique down and have built a variety of sizes. The most common one has been the reclaimed fir, seemed to fit right in with Portland's mindset if reduce/reuse/recycle. Our local wood resources also offer Western Walnut, Myrtle, Madrone, White Oak, Maple, Cedar and more.

White Oak Dovetailed Bench with Shelf.

Cedar Adjustable Height Desk.

This specific desk I made the top for, the customer found the base online. Looks like I will be working with Sit Stand World soon and providing natural wood tops for their adjustable height bases!

Live Edge Magnetic Knife Racks.

I have been making this knife rack design for I guess almost ten years now, though that seems hard to believe to me. It's strange how the older you get, the faster time seems to pass. These are primarily built from western walnut, but I like to throw a few Oregon Myrtle in there for good measure. This order is headed to a knife shop in San Francisco, called Bernal Cutlery. They have a fabulous selection of knives from all over the world, but I think their primary focus has been Japanese Steel. Still looking for a shop here in Portland who can move bulk like the SF shop does, I tried the guy on Hawthorne, but he didn't have funds to do an up front payment. That's the problem with Portland, everybody is cheap. There, I said it. You happy now:)? I will likely put some of these up on the Etsy soon, I just moved into my own shop space, so a renewal is in order.

Conference Room/ Break Room Table in Reclaimed fir with heavy duty 1 and 1/2 Steel Pipe Base.

Another table for a local cheese and ice cream making company. The heavy duty steel pipe gives it a very sturdy feel as well as an interesting look.

Clear Cedar and Steel Pipe Bench. $250.00

A variation on one of my design themes, I had purchased this cedar ay Rebuild it Center in a few rough sawn pieces thinking it was fir. Finally figured out a good use for it.

Custom built Carriage House Doors.

 I had a request to do a set of these earlier this summer, and have since done 4 different sets in various  neighborhoods in SE and SW Portland. Some of these I had just done a primer only, and the customers were going to final paint. Each opening is unique on these old carriage houses, so these are built to order.
