Function:

I am a visual artist and woodworker creating functional and character filled furniture and accessories using the many techniques I have accumulated over the years. I received my BFA in 1998 and have since done fine art, finish carpentry, cabinet installation, and faux finishing. I have been doing original furniture design and custom woodwork since 2010.
My goal and purpose is to combine these elements and skills to make functional beautiful furniture that is inviting as well as aesthetically pleasing.

Custom built Carriage House Doors.

I had a request to do a set of these earlier this summer, and have since done 4 different sets in various  neighborhoods in SE and SW Portland. Some of these I had just done a primer only, and the customers were going to final paint. Each opening is unique on these old carriage houses, so these are built to order.

Wooden bike pannier. 2nd prototype, soon to go into production and available for purchase.

As a pretty regular bike commuter, I started envisioning beautiful handcrafted wooden storage units. This side will hold all your roadside repair gear, cable lock, and either three beers or a sweater.

Live Edge Maple Lamp. $95.00.

I made this lamp a few years ago, and was never satisfied with the hardware. After doing the pipe lamp, I realized I just needed to buy a lamp kit and a long rod. Now it's totally safe and looks great. With the new bell hanger bit and my new knowledge, I can make a lamp from just about any cool looking chunk of wood.

Myrtle Mountain Bike Rack. $125.00 with US shipping included.

It's true that necessity is the mother of invention. I needed an out of the way spot for by Gary to live, and so built this larger version of my bike rack design in Oregon Myrtle, a super strong hardwood native to the PNW. This rack will accommodate handlebars up to 24 inches, and a top tube up to 2 and 1/4 inches. For purchasing and contact information visit my Etsy page at www.driftedge.etsy.com

I have these available in various sizes, and the bases are pretty interchangable, so a coffee height table could easily get turned into a desk.
